PIG FARM - SAN DIEGO
Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presents John Ellison Conlee, Katie Finneran, Logan Marshall-Green and Denis OHare in the co-world premiere (in collaboration with the Old Globe, San Diego, CA) of Greg Kotiss new comedy Pig Farm, directed by John Rando. Pig Farm will begin previews on Friday, June 9, 2006 and will open officially on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, Off Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46 Street). This is a limited engagement through Sunday, September 3, 2006 Tickets t0 Roundabout Theatre Companys 40th anniversary season production of Pig Farm will be available beginning May 14th by calling Roundabout Ticket Services at (212) 719-1300, online at www.roundabouttheatre.org or at the Laura Pels Theatre box office (111 West 46th St). Ticket prices range from $56.25 to $66.25. Pig Farm will play Tuesday through Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. with Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m.
VITELLO'S RESTAURANT OPENS STERLING'S UPSTAIRS On Friday, June 9, 2006, Vitellos Italian Restaurant in Studio City, CA will open Sterlings Upstairs, an all-new supper club that will present the best of Broadway, cabaret and nightclub artists. Performances will be presented twice nightly on Fridays and Saturdays with 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm seatings. A four-course, prix-fixe menu will be set at $25.00 per person, with a $40.00 entertainment cover charge (which may vary depending upon the performer).
BECAUSE HE CAN Pulitzer Prize-nominated author Arthur Kopits Because He Can will open on Friday, June 9th at The Greenwich Street Theatre (547 Greenwich Street). It will play through Sunday, June 25th. Nicholas Cotz directs the play. "Running at a brisk 75 minutes, Because He Can is an erotic thriller confronting identity theft. A writing professor and his wife are interrogated by the FBI, while one of his ex-students, a young computer hacker with a chip on his shoulder lurks suspiciously around every corner. It doesn't help that the couple have skeletons in their closets that they would rather not have revealed," state press notes on the production. Audiences should be advised that Because He Can will contain nudity. General Admission is $20.00, $17.00 for seniors, students. THE LEGEND OF PEARL HART LCO Productions will present The Legend of Pearl Hart, a new musical about the life and exploits of Pearl Taylor Hart, the "Famous Female Arizona Bandit." It will be presented from June 9th through 24th at TBG Arts Center (West 36th Street, on the fourth floor, west of Eighth Avenue). The musical features a book and lyrics by Cathy Chamberlain, and music by Rich Look. It will be directed by Lea Orth, with choreography by Jim Osorno. The show will star Laurie Gamache (A Chorus Line), Trip Pylmale (The Robber Bridegroom), George Riddle (The Fantastics), Keith Krutchoff and in the title role, Catherine Hesse. The Legend of Pearl Hart "chronicles the exploits of Pearl Taylor Hart, a young Canadian woman who, in the 1890's, became famous when she robbed a stage-coach. The resulting press coverage dubbed her 'The Daring Arizona Female Bandit' and made Pearl an overnight media sensation. In her growing fame and notoriety, she attracted the constant scrutiny of the law, male admirers and interest from the suffragette movement which included a jailhouse visit from Emma Goldman," according to press notes. The Legend of Pearl Hart runs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays at 8:00 pm and Saturdays at 2pm and 8:00 pm June 9th through June 24th. Tickets are $18.00 and $15.00 with student ID. WALLACH & JACKSON HONORS Two 2006 Tony Award nominees for Best Actress will join a distinguished cast of other award-winners, to honor Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson on June 19. Kate Burton (The Constant Wife) and Cynthia Nixon (Rabbit Hole) are maong the scheduled performers who will be participating in "A Life in the Theatre - Onstage and Off," at Symphony Space, which will pay tribute to the famous acting couple, who have worked together numerous times, and have been married for 58 years. James Naughton will host the event, which benefits the Character Studies Education Projects. The evening will also feature a special performance by the legendary Kitty Carlisle Hart. SARAH JONES ON REGIS & KELLY From June 5th through 9th, "Live with Regis and Kelly" will spotlight Tony-nominated shows in anticipation of the 60th Annual Tony Awards on June 11th. The popular talk show, co-hosted by Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, airs at 9 AM. Finally, On Friday, June 9th, Sarah Jones will be featured. Jones, who was selected to receive a Special Tony Award this year for her one-woman play Bridge & Tunnel, will perform an except from that show.
